Freeport dog owners are 30 minutes from one of Maine's most unique training environments. I train every dog personally on a 15-acre working farm — and Freeport is one of my regular field trip destinations. Your dog will practice obedience in and around L.L. Q: Do you take dogs to Freeport during training? Freeport is one of my go-to field trip destinations. Dogs in board and train practice their obedience in and around L.L. Bean, the outlet shops, and the busy sidewalks of downtown Freeport. These are real-world environments with foot traffic, other dogs, shopping bags, and unpredictable distractions. By the time your dog graduates, they’ve already proven they can hold it together in the places you’ll actually take them.

Q: How far is King K9 Academy from Freeport? About 30 minutes. I’m on a 15-acre working farm in Richmond, just north on I-295. Freeport clients have an easy drive, and you’re well within my pick-up service corridor if you’d prefer not to make the trip for drop-off. For what it’s worth, I have clients who fly in from out of state because they can’t find this kind of training environment anywhere near them. Thirty minutes is nothing.

Q: What does a typical field trip to Freeport look like? When a dog is ready, I’ll take them into downtown Freeport and work through real scenarios — heeling past the outlet stores, holding a down-stay on a busy sidewalk, practicing recall near L.L. Bean where there’s constant foot traffic and other dogs. The goal isn’t just that your dog can do these things on my farm. It’s that they can do them in the places where your life actually happens. That’s what separates a dog who knows commands from a dog who actually listens when it counts.

Q: What programs do you offer and how much do they cost? I offer three board and train programs starting at $1,250, including options for puppies, on-leash obedience, and full off-leash obedience. I also run small group classes at the farm with a maximum of three dogs. All programs include owner transfer lessons and phone/email support, with options for professional equipment and pick-up service. With over 50 five-star reviews, we’re one of the most trusted dog training programs in midcoast Maine. Call (207) 248-7900 for a free consultation.

Q: Is pick-up available for Freeport dogs? Yes. Freeport is within my pick-up corridor, which runs from Portland to Waterville, for a small fee. You’ll come to the farm to pick your dog up yourself — that’s when I conduct your owner transfer lesson so you leave with everything you need to keep the training going at home.
