How far is King K9 Academy from Augusta? About 20 minutes — I’m just south on I-295 on a 15-acre working farm in Richmond. Augusta-area clients have the shortest drive in my service area. Drop-off is easy, and you’re well within my pick-up corridor if you’d rather not make the trip. For context, I have clients who travel from out of state to train here. Twenty minutes from Augusta is about as convenient as it gets.

Do you work with dogs from Augusta, Hallowell, and Gardiner? Regularly. Families from Augusta, Hallowell, Gardiner, and Winthrop have been coming to King K9 Academy for years — from first puppies to adult dogs with serious behavioral challenges. Being the closest community to the farm, the Augusta area has been one of my strongest client bases since I started training here.

Is pick-up service available in the Augusta area? Yes. Augusta is well within my pick-up corridor, which runs from Portland to Waterville, for a small fee. You’ll come to the farm to pick your dog up — that’s when I conduct your owner transfer lesson so you leave confident in maintaining the training at home.

What programs do you offer and how much do they cost? I offer three board and train programs starting at $1,250, including options for puppies, on-leash obedience, and full off-leash obedience. I also run small group classes at the farm with a maximum of three dogs. All programs include owner transfer lessons and phone/email support, with options for professional equipment and pick-up service. With over 50 five-star reviews, we’re one of the most trusted dog training programs in central Maine. Call (207) 248-7900 for a free consultation.

What makes your training different from other options near Augusta? Most programs in the Augusta area have your dog living in someone’s basement, garage, or spare room and training in their backyard. Here, your dog trains on open acreage around sheep, chickens, and ducks, works through a confidence course, and goes on field trips to midcoast towns and stores. I train every dog myself — no assistants, no rotating staff — and I take three dogs at a time. You’re 20 minutes from a training environment that people drive hours to reach.
